JEDEC to Set Fiber Optic System Test & Qualification Standards for Harsh Environment Applications

In May, 2009 the first meeting of the new JC-13.6 Subcommittee for Fiber Optics Systems in Military and Space Applications drew 37 attendees representing government agencies, aerospace companies and vendors. The subcommittee intends to focus on the publication of a comprehensive test and qualification standard for military and space applications, as well as the promotion of open dialogue between agencies, users and vendors worldwide to track new capabilities and anticipate modification of test and qualification standards as needed. Organizational groups established at the meeting include Transceivers, Active Components, Passive Components, Cables and Connectors, Switches and Fiber/Optical Sensors.

JC-13.6 invites all interested parties to join in this effort – take action and join JEDEC today.
